Music
Why should you choose Music
Music is a huge part of our lives. It has the power to change our mood, get us excited or calm us down. It’s everywhere! Music is used in the video games you play, the films and programmes you watch on the television. Music is played when you go shopping or when you listen to the radio on your way to school. Behind the scenes, many organisations and jobs go into getting music from the artist to the audience.
If you have a passion for music, would you like to know how it is made? How it makes people money? How music is promoted so we are introduced to new artists? In this course, you will learn about how the music industry works. As well as this, you will work as a team to put on a concert and take on roles, such as a sound engineer, promoter etc. You will build confidence skills by performing in front of an audience. You will also be given the opportunity to go and look around a venue and a recording studio to see the difference between live and recorded music.
Career Options
The BTEC Level 1/2 Tech Award in Music Practice would prepare students for any business role. This is because the course focuses on looking at industry and how to work professionally within the music business. The breadth of job roles this course would prepare you for is huge. For example, for those students wanting to become a lawyer, we look at the legal support given to artists when signing a major record deal and legal disputes with record companies and artists. The course would also prepare students for higher education courses in music and teaching. Universities look favourably on students with a music qualification!
