London Art and Photography Trip

On 21st January A level Art and Photography Students enjoyed a trip to  London, where they visited two galleries- The National Gallery and the National Portrait Gallery for inspiration to develop their ideas for their coursework.   For the Year 12 artists, the focus was ‘The Portrait’; the National Portrait Gallery impressed with a myriad of portraits to inspire and act upon, especially the work of Grayson Perry.  All students thoroughly immersed themselves in the work of Van Gogh and Degas at the National Gallery. Photography students focused on the theme of 'Urban' and experimented with street photography with lots of primary sources.

Overall, it was a wonderful trip and all gained inspiration for A Level Art or Photography projects, making the trip a resounding success; useful, and enlightening. As well as looking around the galleries, both year groups had the opportunity to visit famous London landmarks such as Covent Garden and Camden Market.
